Mum’s Classic Sheppard’s Pie

Take this list with you to any of our 8 supermarkets:
  • 4 Sachets
    Carrefour Potato Purée
  • 1 Kilogram
    Ground Beef
  • 2
    Large Onions
  • 3
    Carrots, grated
  • 9
    Garlic cloves, minced
  • 5
    Bay Leaves
  • Black Pepper
  • ½ Cups
    Red Wine
  • 3
    Egg Yolks


  1. In a large pan, sauté the onions, garlic and carrots on high heat. Then add the ground beef, red wine and bay leaves. Cover tightly and leave to cook on medium heat.

  2. Cook the Carrefour Potato Purée as per package instructions.

  3. Once the meat mixture is done, pour the mixture onto a casserole dish, and then once the potato purée is done, pour onto the meat layer. Use a spatula to gently smoothen the surface.

  4. Beat the egg yolks and pour onto the potato purée. Gently pierce the surface with a fork to allow the egg mixture to penetrate.

  5. Bake in a preheated oven for about 30 minutes, until golden brown.
